Google rolls out Gemini Live with new voices for Android users and it is free

Google has now made Gemini Live available to all Android users, expanding access to its conversational AI assistant, which was previously limited to premium subscribers. Gemini Live allows for natural, fluid conversations where users can interrupt and change the topic mid-discussion. It can be used for brainstorming, answering questions, and more, directly through the Gemini app. The assistant also runs in the background, meaning you can multitask without keeping the app open.
One of the major highlights of this rollout is the addition of 10 new voices, allowing users to personalise their experience by choosing from options like “Nova” (calm, mid-range) or “Capella” (higher pitch with a British accent). While the current version is available in English, Google plans to roll out support for other languages and iOS soon.
Although Gemini Live doesn’t yet include integrations like Gmail and YouTube Music (part of the upcoming Gemini Extensions), users can expect these features in future updates. This broader rollout makes Gemini Live a powerful new tool for Android users looking for a more interactive AI experience.
Gemini Live offers 10 unique voice options that allow users to tailor the AI’s tone and style to fit their preferences. These voices were designed to provide a variety of tones, ranging from calm and soothing to energetic and bright, enhancing the user’s conversational experience. Here are the available voices:
Each voice is designed to adapt to different contexts, making the conversational experience more personalised and dynamic. Users can change the voices in the Gemini app settings under “Gemini’s Voice.” These voices enhance the realism of interactions by mimicking different emotional tones.
It’s no rocket science. After downloading the Gemini App from Google Play Store, you’ll see the Gemini Live feature available at the bottom of the screen. Tap on the “Live” icon to start a conversation. You can speak directly to Gemini, and it will respond to your queries or help you brainstorm ideas.
To personalise your experience, go to the settings in the app. Navigate to Gemini’s Voice, where you’ll find 10 voice options, including Nova, Ursa, Vega, and Capella. Select the voice that best suits your preferences. This version of Gemini Live is available for free to all Android users. It was initially exclusive to premium users, but now everyone can access it without additional cost.
It is noteworthy that right now, Google Gemini supports English only. But you can expect more languages in the next updates. Moreover, users can also expect iOS support in the future updates.
